(Ames) TJ Otzelberger was introduced as the 21st head men’s basketball coach in Iowa State history on Friday.
AD Jamie Pollard opened the press conference by saying he’s heard from multiple former Cyclones that were happy about the decision to hire TJ Otzelberger. Among them was current Nebraska coach Fred Hoiberg.
Otzelberger is excited to return to Ames where he has previously been an assistant coach.
He looks forward to connecting with the fan base and continuing to share his vision and passion for Cyclone basketball.
Otzelberger comments on some of his initial goals.
He feels his past experiences at Iowa State will help him hit the ground running.
Otzelberger compiled a 29-30 record in his two seasons as head coach at UNLV. Prior that he was 70-33 in three seasons at South Dakota State.
