(Area) A Wind Advisory is in effect from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday for all of western Iowa. The National Weather Service says east winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 45 mph are expected. Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may results. Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle.
The National Weather Service also says southwest Iowa could see over two inches of rain Sunday into Monday, and a strong system will bring heavy snow to portions of northern Iowa where Winter Storm Warning and Winter Weather Advisories are in effect. Rain will very slowly spread over Iowa Sunday with a transition to snow occurring Sunday night. On Monday, northern Iowa will continue to see snow while southern Iowa will flip back to rain. South of Highway 92 will see nearly all rain while north of I-80 will see part of this in the form of snow.
