(Atlantic) Rex Pharmacy and Cass County Public Health teamed up for a mass COVID-19 vaccination clinic on Monday afternoon at the Cass County Community Center. Cass County Public Health Director Beth Olsen says Rex Pharmacy secured 1,170 doses of the Pfizer vaccine.
Olsen says it was a smooth process, and everyone seemed really pleased. Public Health used self-scheduling software to handle the large volume of appointments.
Rex Pharmacy President Josh Borer explained that Rex Pharmacy received access to the vaccine as part of the Federal Pharmacy Partnership.
Borer says originally they received about 100 doses per week of the Moderna vaccine. The partnership recently reached out to see if we had the capacity for a large tray of Pfizer vaccine, or 1,170 doses.
Heath Officials say it takes time for the body to build protection after any vaccination. The Pfizer vaccine requires two shots and may not offer protection for one week or two weeks after the second shot.
