(Audubon) With a retiring police chief and another officer leaving the department, the City of Audubon may look into teaming up with the Audubon County Sheriff’s Office.
Law enforcement options were presented to the city council during a meeting Monday night. “The County Sheriff presented to the Council the option for the County to take over law enforcement in town. He went over some of the budget numbers and went through a laundry list of different amenities and extras that would be provided by having the county take over.”
According to City Clerk Joe Foran, the Sheriff’s Office could provide a more steady presence. “We would have an officer that would be patrolling all the time instead of doing partly administrative work. For the County they have people employed to do the administrative work so we have people that would be on patrol all the time.”
Elsewhere the council moved to have a new ordinance to eliminate increasing water rates for residents outside of city limits.
