(Carroll) Carroll Iowa County authorities are searching for a male fugitive who injured a Carroll Police Officer during a traffic stop just before 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
The fugitive is identified as 27-year old Dennis Guider Jr., a black male, 5’11, weighing approximately 150 pounds, last seen on foot wearing a dark sweatshirt. He is wanted on parole violations for numerous burglary convictions in Cook County, Illinois.
According to the Carroll Police Department, Guider Jr. of Chicago Heights, Illinois, was a passenger in a vehicle stopped by authorities for a traffic stop at Burgess Avenue and Highway 30. When officers tried to take him into custody, he shoved the driver out of the vehicle and drove off, striking an officer who landed on the hood of the fleeing car. A pursuit ensued with speeds reaching 60-miles per hour through the 600 block of Burgess Avenue. The getaway car struck a culvert throwing the officer from the vehicle. The car eventually became disabled, and Guider fled on foot.
