(Corning) Charges are pending following a pursuit that occurred in Adams County Sunday morning.
The Adams County Sheriff’s Office says at approximately 4:53 a.m., Deputies attempted to stop a 2015 Chevy Silverado for traveling 80 mph in a 55 mph zone on Highway 34. The vehicle attempted to elude the Deputy by going northbound on Adams/Montgomery Avenue. The vehicle then failed to stop at the T intersection of 210th and Adams/Montgomery Avenue. The vehicle entered the north field where it eventually got stuck.
The driver, 32-year-old Robert Carter of Walnut, exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Robert had a revoked license. The passenger, 36-year-old Adam Carter of Carson, was located at the vehicle suffering from injuries. Adam was transported by ambulance to CHI.
Fremont County assisted and deployed their K9 in an attempt to track and locate the driver. At approximately 7:14 a.m., Deputies were unable to locate Robert Carter and called off the search. At approximately 8:08 a.m., Deputies were able to locate Robert Carter inside the United Farmers’ Cooperative gas station in Corning. He was transported by a Deputy to CHI for injuries received in the pursuit.
The Adams County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Fremont County Sheriff’s Office K9, Red Oak Police Department, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa State Patrol.
