(Des Moines) A bill relating to the conduct of elections passed the Iowa House Wednesday night.
Iowa House District 21 Representative Tom Moore said the 2020 election in Iowa was safe and secure, but there is always room for improvement.
Moore said this bill will also shorten the absentee ballot request period from 120 days to 70 days and shorten the absentee ballot mailing period from 29 days to 21 days. The length of the Election Day will change from polls closing at 9:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Moore said this bill was debated for about five hours on Wednesday before being passed 57-37.
