(Atlantic) On Wednesday The Atlantic School Board approved the 2021-2022 school calendar. The Board’s approval followed a public hearing held before the regular meeting.
Atlantic Schools Superintendent Steve Barber says the Calendar Committee met and discussed different aspects of the school calendar. Each representative from the buildings shared other options, and the team landed on the following calendar.
The first day of school is August 23 and the last day of school is May 25. The specifics are listed below.
*August 17-New Teacher in-Service
*August 18, 19, and 20-Teacher in-Service
*August 23-First Day of Classes
*September 6-Labor Day-No School
*Homecoming 2 hour early out-that date is yet to be determined
*October 19-End of the first semester
*October 27 & 28-Parent Teacher Conferences
*October 28 & 29-No School
*November 24-2 hour early out
*November 25-Thanksgiving Day-No School
*November 26-No School
*December 22-End of 1st Semester
*December 23-January 3-Christmas Break
*January 3-Teacher in-service
*February 16 & 17-Parent-Teacher Conferences

*March 11-End of 3rd quarter

Barber says one interesting feedback was the number of people who preferred not to have a full week of spring break. “Two years ago, after having a schedule that didn’t contain a spring break, we heard overwhelming support for a weeklong break,” said Barber.
