(Audubon) Both teams took turns looking like they had the upper hand Saturday afternoon in Audubon. When the dust settled the CAM boys came away with a 45-39 victory over the Wheelers.
The Cougars looked good early with a 7-0 start to the game, but Audubon came roaring back in the 2nd. Connor McKee scored 9 of his 11 points in the first half and the Cougars built a 15-9 advantage through one. Audubon clicked on all cylinders in the second quarter, outscoring CAM 18-4. Carson Bauer drained three 3’s and sparked the offense with all 13 of his points coming in the second quarter. Unfortunately for the Wheelers they only combined for 21 points in the other three frames including just 12 points in the 2nd half.
CAM regrouped from a 27-19 halftime deficit and didn’t all any second half points until there was 1:10 left in the third. Shortly after that their 30-29 lead was their first advantage since being up 17-15 in the first half. Audubon got a driving layup right before the third quarter buzzer for a 31-30 Wheeler lead going into the 4th.
It was all CAM in the final frame. Cade Ticknor’s size proved to be a difference late as he scored 8 of his 10 points after halftime. Colby Rich hit six free-throws and finished with 9 points.
