(Guthrie Center) Three straight wins for the ACGC girls basketball team has the Chargers heading into Thursday’s matchup at CAM with a 9-4 record.
They’ve held their last three opponents to 30 points or less. In a 66-21 win on Tuesday over Ogden they held the Bulldogs scoreless for the entire 4th quarter and gave up just three points in the 1st quarter. “The big thing we talked about is just not giving up easy baskets. Don’t allow the drive and if we have to we give up the three and close out hard. We pressure the ball in the full court so shooters are always getting tired.”
Thursday night they’ll face a CAM squad that was once undefeated and ranked in the top ten of Class 1A. “I see a lot of solid basketball players based on film and their stats. You really can’t just shut down one of them. Most of them can shoot, dribble, and pass. I know they are well coached and they pressure the ball. It’s going to be a fun and interesting game from what I can tell.”
A relatively young ACGC group continues to lean heavily on their juniors and seniors for offensive production. Kylie Young, Alaina Bunde and EmmaKay McLain all average in double figures to lead a balanced scoring attack. Bunde and McClain are coming off of double-doubles in Tuesday’s win. Bunde had 14 points and 11 rebounds. McClain posted 18 points and 10 steals.
Thursday’s contest between ACGC and CAM will air on 96.5 FM KSOM.
