(Atlantic) Atlantic City Administrator John Lund discussed the recommended tax levy and proposed program and funding changes with the Atlantic City Council Wednesday evening.
John Lund said the property tax levy is expected to remain at last year’s figure of $16.56.
Lund said for commercial and industrial there would be no increase and for multi-residential the rollback declined so multi-residential taxes will decline $62.10 per $100,000 of valuation.
He said long term; things are looking good overall.
Lund told the Council they will officially receive the budget on February 17th, they will do a public hearing on the maximum tax dollars resolution on March 3rd and by March 17th they will be done with the budget.
In other news, the City Council set a date of a public hearing for February 3rd at 5:30 p.m. on the sale of real estate at 403 West 14th Street. Mr. and Mrs. Spurr, the owners of the abutting property at 401 West 14th have submitted a bid for the property that satisfies all the requirements of the property. They have agreed to purchase the land for $10,000.
The Council also approved amending the Code of Ordinances in Section 18.01 of Chapter 18 entitled City Clerk and Section 20.01 of Chapter 20 entitled City Attorney. This ordinance change would eliminate the two-year reappointment schedule and make the City Clerk a permanent employee. The change would also remove the two-year term period for City Attorney and make it a permanent appointment. Appointment of the City Attorney will occur as needed.
The City Council also recognized Kirk Knudsen for his 35 years of service to the Atlantic Street Department.
