(Harlan) Earlier this week, the Harlan School Board cut the list of School Superintendent Candidates from 24 down to eight.
Harlan Schools Superintendent Lynn Johnson says the board will screen the eight applicants on January 21. Johnson says the board will create a shortlist of three to four candidates. Those finalists will be brought on campus for formal interviews on February 11. “The board put together a large group of stakeholders to be involved in the interview process,” said Johnson. “So they will receive a lot of information from these stakeholders in selecting the next Superintendent.”
The school board is looking for a candidate that is approachable, accessible, welcoming, demonstrates ethics and integrity, with the ability to follow through on tasks and responsibilities, recruiting, hiring, and developing a strong administrative team. The board is also looking for candidates possessing strong communication skills, a strong instructional leader, and one that is able to reach school improvement efforts, effectively manage school resources, including facility updates.
