(Page Co.) The Page County Sheriff’s Office responded to a semi accident at the Page County landfill on Thursday.
The Sheriff’s Office says the accident happened at approximately 4:40 p.m. The investigation showed that 43-year-old Curley D. Drake, of Byram, Mississippi, was operating a 2020 Mack semi pulling onto the scales at the Page County landfill. Due to the soft/muddy conditions of the approach to the scales, Drake lost control of the semi and slid into a concrete barrier causing damage. The semi then slid into the handrail on the deck of the scale causing the handrail to break off.
The semi is owned by Morgan Van Lines of Booneville, Mississippi. Damage to the semi is estimated at $1,500. Damage to the scale area of the landfill is estimated at $1,500. No citations were issued.
