(Audubon) Crews in Audubon County began clearing hard surfaces Friday afternoon while gravel roads will be addressed Saturday morning.
Audubon County Roads Superintendent Jami Schleimer reports once things let up Friday afternoon they got to work. “We have our trucks out running the hard surface roads. The snow is still blowing around out there and it’s drifting behind them so they are doing their best to keep the roads open out there.”
Gravel roads will get their turn tomorrow. “The gravel roads are a different story. The graders move a lot slower so we are going to hit those Saturday morning. We’ll let the wind die down and quit carrying the snow around so we’ll actually be able to keep them open.”
There are plenty of slick spots throughout the county. “We want everybody if they have to travel to drive save and take their time. The snow is kind of wet so it is slippery. It’s hard to get off of it when you get on it when it’s packed down.”
Audubon County’s policy is to clear snow from 6:00 a.m to 6:00 p.m.
