(Atlantic) The forecast for blizzard conditions tomorrow will obviously cause widespread school closings, at least brick and mortar school closings. With the technology in place today, some schools may opt to conduct classes virtually.
Atlantic Schools Superintendent Steve Barber says despite the ability to instruct all students at home, the district won’t exercise that option if the school closes due to winter weather conditions.
“We have the ability to create learning equality among all of our students remotely,” said Barber. “We have 100 hotspots, and every student has a computer. Unfortunately, we don’t allow every student to take their computers home, and we’re in no position to ensure all of our students will have access to instruction.”
Barber says if the school is closed due to weather, it will be handled just like a traditional snow day.
