(Audubon) The third and final reading of an ordinance changing the rates and billing structure for water in Audubon has been passed.
With all of the new water meters operational it’s time for monthly billing to start. “What’s going to happen is everybody in town is going to be read at the end of January and then beginning in February they are going to be billed a modified bill depending on the last time they were billed. It might be a one month bill, it might be a two month bill, it might be a three month bill, but it will be prorated based off their consumption and where they are at with the billing.”
City Clerk Joe Foran says they’ll phase in the monthly bills during February and March. Bills will be due on the 15th. “People will have to understand that they won’t have the entire month to pay the bill. They’ll have until the 15th. After the 15th they’ll be late and they’ll have about ten days before they are shut off. We have it set up for electronic payment too.”
Elswehere, the council discussed how to handle parking restrictions on the square now that residences are being put in downtown. “There was discussion on how to work it out. A lot of the owners of the buildings are putting in apartments up above. We are trying to figure out a way to satisfy the future apartment residents, but also allowing space for commercial people to have customers be able to park and for snow removal.”
Foran says no action was taken, but they will look into it further and try to come up with some type of plan.
