(Red Oak) The Baird Family Christmas Light Display in rural Montgomery County has been taking place upwards of 45 years. The lights are going on this weekend after months of preparation.
Jack Baird is celebrating his 89th birthday with the lighting of the quarter mile long spectacle. It’s something he and his family invest a lot of time into each year.
They’ve been prepping since October.
Jack’s son Chris handles a lot of the climbing these days. After more than four decades of wowing crowds from multiple states, Jack sees no reason to stop now.
Baird says he’s enjoyed meeting so many different people that come to see the spectacular sight.
A 14 foot horse and a carriage with moving feet and wheels is the new addition this year.
Saturday night is the official turn on. The address is 1233 E Avenue, Red Oak, IA, 51566.
