(Creston) An 18-year-old from Creston was killed in a two-vehicle accident this (Tuesday) morning.
The Iowa State Patrol says Alexis Rounds died in the accident that occurred at 5:44 a.m. on Highway 34, one mile west of Creston.
Alexis Rounds was driving a 1998 Jeep Wrangler westbound on Highway 34 and lost control due to the roadway conditions. Rounds crossed over the center line into the eastbound lane of Highway 34 and into the direct path of a 2009 Peterbilt Semi driven by 64-year-old Gregory Powell of Diagonal. The State Patrol said the collision was unavoidable.
Both vehicles came to rest against the guardrail and were then consumed by fire.
The accident remains under investigation.
