(Red Oak) The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, along with personnel from Villisca and Red Oak Rescue, responded to a report of an unresponsive female that was located in the 500 block of 1st Avenue at 7:25 a.m. on Tuesday.
The Sheriff’s Office says the female was taken by rescue personnel to the Montgomery County Hospital and then transported to UNMC in Omaha for treatment for complications from exposure.
As of today, the Sheriff’s Office has been able to identify the female and she is recovering at this time. There is no evidence of foul play at this time as it appears the female may have lost consciousness due to complications of exposure to below freezing temperatures.
The investigation remains open. However, the Sheriff’s Office believes this was a medical emergency.
