(Massena) A large gathering turned out Saturday evening on Main Street in Massena for the second annual Christmas Lighted Parade. Due to COVID-19 guidelines, the Chamber Board of Directors encouraged parade watchers to park along Main Street and stay in their vehicles. Nearly every parking stall was occupied as Santa, and Mrs. Claus led the parade down the town’s main drag.
Following the parade, Santa greeted the children in the library, and the Chamber provided a free meal thanks to the generous donations from businesses and community members. City Councilman Jack Bissell appreciated the community support for making the event a success.
City Councilman Doug Venteicher said the evening is all about the children.
The Chamber sponsored the first annual event last year to celebrate the Main Street renovation project’s completion, which included; new pavement, new lighting, modern curb appeal, fresh foliage, and numerous other improvements.
Venteicher says the goal is to make the “Lighted Parade” an annual tradition in Massena.
