(Montgomery County) An eastern Iowa man is in custody following a pursuit that started in Montgomery County and ended on Highway 71 in Cass County late Saturday night.
According to a Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office press release, the driver of the vehicle identified as Rosevelt Washington, of Waterloo, faces eluding charges, along with interference with official acts, and reckless driving. Additionally, Washington has two out-of-state warrants for two counts of driving with a revoked license and leaving the scene of a property damage accident out of Adams County, Illinois, and failure to appear for driving with a revoked license.
A Montgomery County Deputy conducted a traffic stop on Washington at around 11:30 p.m. at the intersection of Boxelder and Highway 34. Washington took off eastbound towards Red Oak at speeds of 100 miles per hour. The pursuit continued through Red Oak and then north on Highway 48, before law enforcement performed a successful PIT maneuver, and apprehended Washington on Highway 71 just south of Highway 92 in Cass County. Authorities transported Washington to the Montgomery County Jail and booked in on a $2,000 bond.
The Red Oak Police Department, Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Griswold Fire and Rescue, Iowa State Patrol, DNR, and the Montgomery County Communications Center assisted the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
In a separate incident; the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office arrested Marlin Mainquist of Villisca for Public Intoxication at 616 Halland Avenue in Stanton. Authorities transported Mainquest to the Montgomery County Jail where he was booked in and held on a $300 bond.
