(Exira) Floyd and Gloria Hackwell will lead Exira’s 4th of July Parade as this year’s Grand Marshals.
Abby Rasmussen with the Exira Community Club says there were several good candidates this year, but the Hackwell’s rose to the top. Gloria Hackwell says they were honored to be selected, “We were pretty surprised. We feel very honored that we were chosen for that.”
The Hackwell’s are proud to call the community of Exira home. As Gloria says, they love their town and they care what happens to it. “With things like they are we feel like we are the luckiest people in the world. We’ve lived here our entire lives, our parents did also, and four of our five kids live here. So I guess you could say our roots run pretty deep.”
Fittingly “Our Roots Run Deep” is the theme for this year’s celebration. The Hackwell’s will serve as grand marshals and the Exira-EHK Class of 2020 was selected as the junior grand marshal.
