(Villisca) Villisca firefighters responded to a house fire on Wednesday afternoon.
Fire Chief John Bruce said the call went out at around 12:35 p.m.for a report of a structure fire at 3002 265th Street.
Firefighters located the fire coming from an upstairs bedroom. Firefighters contained the fire to the bed and terminated the incident at around 1:30 p.m.
All of the occupants escaped the home without injury.
Chief Bruce says the blaze caused extensive smoke damage to the rooms upstairs, but it is still habitable. Bruce noticed smoking materials in the vicinity of the fire.
Montgomery County Emergency Management, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Rural Electric Company, and Red Oak Rescue assisted the Villisca Fire Department.
