(Des Moines) Strong thunderstorms are forecast to develop over southwest Iowa this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service in Des Moines.
Rain showers may develop early this afternoon followed by stronger thunderstorms expected to arrive mid to later afternoon. A few of these storms could be severe with large hail and damaging winds gusts. An isolated tornado is possible. Additionally, heavy rain is possible. This may lead to flooding issues in some areas.
