(Atlantic) Atlantic Businessman Erich Wickman, the owner of Wickman Chemical, plans the third annual charity event “Top Shot” Cass County. The money raised goes to the Atlantic Police Department kid’s programs.
Erich Wickman and Wickman Chemical provide the range, pay for the clay pigeons, insurance, and all of the other expenses that go along with it for the event that starts on Monday, June 29 through July 3.
Atlantic Police Chief Dave Erickson says the money goes towards several children’s programs for all the kids in Cass County hosted by the Atlantic Police Department. The programs include; The Movie Night out, Kids camp out, food drive, and the all-expenses-paid trip to the Zoo.
Two years ago, the event started as a competition between the Cass County Sheriff’s Office and the Atlantic Police Department. Sheriff Darby McLaren accuses Atlantic Police Chief Dave Erickson of bringing in a ringer every year.
Wickman says he couldn’t be happier than to live in Atlantic, Iowa, and expressed his appreciation for the area law enforcement.
The event begins at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, June 29, and every evening through July 3. The score sheeting starts at 5:00 p.m., and when completed, the Annie Oakley contest begins for $5.00 per round. This competition runs until dark or when the group finishes. The event also includes an Annie Oakley championship. Youth from the graduating class of 2020 and younger shoot for free; otherwise, the cost his $25.00 per scored sheet.
