(Red Oak) The Southwest Iowa Squadron of Heroes received a generous donation from the E.F. and Sylvia Schildberg Foundation today.
Brad Baker said Mark Schildberg presented the $1,000 grant to the Squadron of Heroes today.
“We had applied for a grant through the E.F. and Sylvia Schildberg Foundation, we were fortunate enough to get one last year and they said to make sure and apply,” said Baker. “We had a couple things in mind; we were either looking at a trailer for parades or trading cards to hand out to the young people. With everything COVID-related that has hit we really weren’t anticipating it until Mark showed up today and we were so happy.”
The Southwest Iowa Squadron of Heroes is established in the Red Oak area with the mission to have positive interactions with young people.
“We reach out to some of the different communities around, try and do a lot of things with the kids, dress up as superheroes and give them an experience maybe they don’t get too often,” said Baker.
Baker said they appreciate the Schildberg Foundation and everything their family does.
