(Des Moines) Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds announced today of a Test Iowa site coming to Atlantic. The Iowa Department of Public Health announced two new positive cases of COVID-19 in Cass County, bringing the total number of positive cases to 16. Fourteen patients have recovered.
Governor Reynolds says the test site will open on Tuesday at Cass County Health System. “Residents in this area interested in being tested should go to testiowa.com, complete an assessment and schedule an appointment,” said Governor Reynolds.
The Governor said nearly 240,000 Iowans received tests for COVID-19 for a per capita rate of 1-13 Iowans. Reynolds stated the number of positive cases continues to trend downward. She says the positivity rate has dropped from 30-percent in mid-April to 5.5 percent on Wednesday.
Governor Reynolds says the number of patients hospitalized since May 6 dropped from 417 patients to 176 individuals hospitalized today with COVID-19 and 63 patients in ICU.
Another positive sign is the number of positive cases among residents and staff in long-term healthcare facilities, and the removal on Friday of 21 long term care facilities from COVID-19 status.
