(Des Moines) Iowa health officials say the state has 80 new cases of COVID-19 and one new death linked to the coronavirus. The Iowa Department of Public Health reported this morning (Monday) a total of 23,959 cases of COVID-19 and 652 deaths related to the virus. As of this morning, there are 197 patients hospitalized, 19 in the past 24 hours, 71 in ICU, and 51 are on a ventilator.
Officials said that Saturday was the first day since April 6 that no additional deaths reported related to the coronavirus. For most people, the coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough, that clear up in two to three weeks.
