(Des Moines) A severe thunderstorm, packing high winds swept through Guthrie County and parts of central Iowa this (Friday) morning.
According to the National Weather Service, trained weather spotters reported down trees and powerlines in Jefferson in Greene County at around 4:00 a.m. Emergency Management reported 60-mile per hour winds in Bagley in Guthrie County at 4:10 a.m., and a trained weather spotter reported 70-mile per hour winds in Dallas Center at 4:34 this morning. Additionally, a trained weather spotter reported 70-mile per hour winds two-mile southeast of Waukee at 4:44 a.m., and 60-mile per winds in Grimes and Johnston.
Guthrie and Cass Counties are on the western edge of a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 7:00 a.m. this morning.
