(Des Moines) Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds continues to reopen the state’s economy. Governor Reynolds announced Wednesday, effective Friday, May 22, movie theaters, Zoos, Aquariums, museums, and wedding reception venues would be permitted to open with appropriate public health measures. Additionally, swimming pools will reopen for lap swimming and lessons. And on Thursday, May 28, bars and other establishments that serve alcohol will be allowed to reopen for indoor and outdoor seating, at 50-percent capacity.
The Governor announced today that effective June 1, Iowa schools will be allowed to resume school-sponsored activities and learning, according to the appropriate public health precautions, this will include baseball and softball activities.
The Governor said she’ll be working closely with the Iowa Department of Public Health to evaluate any other changes to the state’s public strategy. Governor Reynolds will announce more details next week, as the state approaches the end of the current disaster proclamation on May 27.
