(Guthrie Center) The Guthrie County Conservation Board is opening its campgrounds and facilities in three levels, starting with level I, on Friday at 8:00 a.m.
Brad Halterman Guthrie County Conservation Director says level I allows restricted camping, but facilities will remain closed. There is no set timetable for moving forward to Levels II and III. Halterman said, “it will be at our discretion when we move to Levels II and III.”
The Level I guidelines are as follows:
*The campground will be open to self-contained wheels only units (all restrooms and shower facilities will remain closed).
*Some individual sites or areas may remain closed to ensure social distancing.
*Campfires at campsites will be for occupants only.
*A 14-day limit is in effect unless: a permitted system for high-risk professions or Iowa Department of Transportation construction workers are established in conjunction with outside organization requests.
*Restricts the total number of people at a campsite and will be enforced by the Park Ranger.
*Signage will be maintained at dump stations encouraging the use of vinyl/nitrile gloves, and hand sanitizer.
*The processing of registration envelopes and money handling will follow department protocols.
*Employees are to wear masks when interacting with campers.
*Playgrounds are to remain closed.
*Shelter reservations are suspended.
Halterman says level II opens campgrounds and facilities with limitations. Level III opens campgrounds with standard operations.
