(Atlantic) Four Atlantic/CAM wrestlers qualified for the State Wrestling Tournament at the Class 2A District #2 Tournament at Atlantic on Saturday. Easton O’Brien, (106), Aybren Moore, (113), Joe Weaver, (126), and Cale Roller, (285), all notched spots.
Moore and Weaver claimed titles, and O’Brien and Roller finished as runners-up. Weaver and Roller return to state for the second consecutive year. Freshman Easton O’Brien and senior Aybren Moore make their first appearance. Video interviews with Weaver, Roller, O’Brien, and Moore are posted below.
Winterset had the most qualifiers in the 2A District at Atlantic. Five earned spots in next week’s big event. Bryce Hatten, (132), Kruise Kiburz, (138), Jack West, (145), advance as District Champs. Tyler Brown, (152), and Brody Brody Barringer, (160), were district runners-up.
Red Oak claimed four spots in the Class 2A State Tournament. Jonathon Erp, (120), Justin McCunn, (160), and Carter Maynes, (195), won titles. Bruce Lukehart, (170), finished runner-up.
Harlan has three qualifiers. Carter Bendorf, (170), qualified as a district champion, and Ethan Lemon, (126), and Jesse Schwery, (220), finished second.
Greene County advances two wrestlers, McKinley Robbins, champion at (106), and Brenner Gallagher, (113), qualified as a runner-up.
Panorama has two qualifiers, Emry Colby, (145), and Wyatt Appleseth, (152). Appleseth is 38-0 on the season.
The Creston qualifiers include Jackson Kinsella, (182), and Sam Chapman, (195), Kuemper advanced Ben Schmitz, (120), and Shea Parkis, (138), both finished as runners-up. Clarinda has 35-0, Crew Howard, (220), headed to the state meet, and Kale Downey, (132), is runner-up. Glenwood sends one to the state tournament-Mitch Mayberry, (182).
ADM’s number #1 Heavy Weight Kaden Sutton, qualified as a district champion.
