(Greenfield) A homecoming for Nodaway Valley co-head boys basketball coach James Larson helped revitalize his career. Larson is in his 3rd year at Nodaway Valley after a handful of seasons coaching at Clarke.
A Briar Cliff alum, James Larson was a standout player at Nodaway Valley who admits becoming a teacher was the first priority and the coaching opportunities followed.
Larson began his career Clarke. He became the school’s head boys basketball coach in his second year, but struggled to get players to fully buy in. A few years ago he returned to Nodaway Valley and it has been a great move.
Larson was a two-time all-tournament team selection for the Wolverines and all-tournament captain when they won the state title in 2006.
