(Greenfield) Nodaway Valley senior Austin Wilson has announced his commitment to play football at the next level. Wilson will join the Dordt football program.
Wilson’s high school career included 188 tackles. He was a three-year starter at linebacker who missed half of his senior season due to injury. He was also the team’s 2nd leading rusher twice in his career. Dordt got the nod based on, “The last few years they’ve really been building up the team and I like where the direction is going.” Wilson adds, “It has a really good family feeling there at Dordt.”
Wilson considered wrestling and football at the next level, but decided to focus on just one sport. He’s 37-1 on the mat this winter. He’s recruited as a running back or linebacker. “I’ll be honest I don’t really have a preference. I’ve just always been a better linebacker in my opinion throughout my career, but I also feel like my frame is built better for the offense side. I’m ok with playing either, it’s whatever works best for the team.”
