(Guthrie Center) A stout lineup of competition descended on ACGC High School Saturday for one last regular season tourney before Sectional Tournaments will be held next weekend.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows edged Van Meter/Earlham for the team title with Manson NW Webster, Woodward-Granger, and Greene County rounding out the top five.
Several immediate coverage area teams were in the field including 6th place AHSTW, 9th place Riverside, 10th place ACGC, and 12th place Nodaway Valley.
Highlights for AHSTW included a title for Gavyn Fischer at 195, runner-up from Denver Pauley at 160, Brady Canada finished 3rd at heavyweight. Fischer improves to 41-5 on the season.
Riverside’s Jace Rose won the 113 pound title, John Schroder was a runner-up at 106, and Edward Vlcek was 3rd at 195. Rose is 35-2 on the season.
Seth Danker (126), Gunnar Larsen (132), and Carter Andreason (138) all made the finals for ACGC. All settled for 2nd.
Nodaway Valley got a championship at 160 from Austin Wilson. Others in the top five for the Wolverines were Elliot Cooney (3rd at 113) and Ben Breheny (5th at 120). Wilson moved to 37-1 on the year.
