Jaedan Rasmussen’s 100th career win was among the most noteworthy story lines in AHSTW sweep of Knoxville and Nodaway Valley.
In a 48-30 decision over Knoxville, Seth Kiesel (170), Gavyn Fischer (195), Joel Sampson (132), Garrison Gettler (138), and Jaedan Rasmussen (152) pinned their opponents.
Pins in a 48-21 win against Nodaway Valley were picked up by Joel Sampson (132), Garrison Gettler (138), Aidan Cano (145), and Kolby Weihs (160).
Griswold (0-2)
The Tigers fell at home to Bedford/Lenox 54-12 and West Harrison 30-18. Sam Olson had a pin at 195 pounds over Jed Weaver, of Bedford/Lenox. Seth Butler posted a pin against West Harrison’s Jon Chlupacek at 220.
Harlan (2-1)
Creston/O-M spoiled Harlan’s hopes of winning the Hawkeye Ten outright. A Panther 39-36 leaves three teams all with one dual loss in the conference standings. Atlantic/CAM beat Creston/O-M earlier this season, Harlan downed Atlantic/CAM right after the holiday break, and now Creston/O-M edges Harlan. The Trojans have two conference duals remaining with St. Albert and Shenandoah on Thursday.
On Tuesday night Harlan defeated Lewis Central 45-24 and Carroll 46-24.
Against Carroll there were pins from Luke Musich (120), Ethan Lemon (126), Thomas Frederick (182), Nathan Henry (195), and Jesse Schwery (220). Earning a major decision was Zane Bendorf (160) and Sammy Schmitz (106) won by decision.
The Creston/O-M dual had pins by Jesse Schwery (285), Luke Freund (113), Zane Bendorf (160), and Thomas Frederick (170). Other Cyclones head-to-head winners were Nathan Henry with a 17-11 decision at 195 and Ethan Lemon with a 7-2 decision at 126. The match wasn’t decided until the final bout at 182 where Creston/O-M’s Jackson Kinsella downed Harlan’s Carter Bendorf 11-4.
Harlan opened the Lewis Central match with pins in 6 of the first 7 weight classes. Carter Bendorf (170), Thomas Frederick (182), Nathan Henry (195), Jeremiah Davis (285), Sammy Schmitz (106), and Luke Freund (113) all won by fall. Jesse Schwery (220) won SV-1 14-12 over Dylan Koch.
Nodaway Valley (0-2)
Nodaway Valley lost competitive duals with AHSTW and Knoxville.
The Wolverines won half of the head-to-head matchups against AHSTW, but had five open weights and fell to the Vikings 48-21. Austin Wilson bumped up a weight and took down Seth Kiesel 7-2 at 170. Both wrestlers have spent time in the rankings this year. Other highlights included decision wins for Jory Christensen (220) and Ben Breheny (120) along with a pin from Jaxon Christensen (126).
The Knoxville loss was by a final of 38-27. Austin Wilson (160), Elliot Cooney (113), and Jevin Christensen (132) earned pins. Ben Breheny (120) won in dramatic fashion, SV-1 9-7.
Riverside (1-1)
The Bulldogs got a 65-18 victory over MVAOCOU, but suffered a 51-26 setback to Missouri Valley.
The MVAOCOU dual saw pins from Jace Rose (120), Ethan Reicks (152), Kaiden Hendricks (182), and Brok Comstock (220). A tech fall was won by Nolan Moore (138).
Jace Rose (120), Nathan Messerschmidt (285), and John Schroder (113) had pins against Missouri Valley. At 138 Nolan Moore added a technical fall. Rhett Bentley (52) won a 7-6 decision.
