(Corning) The semifinal matches are all set for the John J. Harris Wrestling Tournament at SW Valley. The tournament began Friday afternoon with first round matches, quarterfinals, and the consolation first round. Things will pick up again at 10:00 a.m. Saturday with the second round of consolations. The semifinals are slated to start at 11:30 Saturday morning.
Winterset leads the pack with a tight race brewing for 2nd. The Huskies have 81 points with seven wrestlers in the semifinals. Red Oak, Creston/O-M, and Atlantic/CAM are in the chase pack with just three points separating that trio of Hawkeye Ten Conference teams.
Atlantic/CAM put half their lineup into the semi’s, with the bulk of them coming in the lighter weights. Still alive on the front side of the bracket for the Trojans are Easton O’Brien (106), Aybren Moore (113), Ethan Follmann (120), Joe Weaver (126), Jaxson Bell (132), Kadin Stutzman (152), and Cale Roller (285).
Tri-Center is 5th in the team scoring, but four others are within six points of them. Immediate coverage areas squads Nodaway Valley and ACGC each have multiple semifinalists. For the Wolverines it’s Elliot Cooney (113), Austin Wilson (160), and Jory Christensen (220). For the Chargers it’s Seth Danker (126) and Gunnar Larsen (132).
