(Des Moines) The entire western half of Iowa is under a Winter Weather Advisory from 6:00 a.m. Friday to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Forecasters say mixed precipitation is expected with total snow accumulations of 3-to-5 inches and ice accumulations of around one-tenth of an inch, along with wind gusts of up to 45-miles per hour.
The impact of the storm is expected to cause slippery road conditions with patchy blowing snow causing reduced visibility. Forecasters say the hazardous road conditions could impact the morning and evening commutes on Friday. The gusty winds could also bring down tree branches.
The snowfall will occur first and transition to a wintry mix, including freezing rain, by Friday night.
