(Des Moines) A snow storm is taking aim on southwest Iowa early Friday morning.
Jeff Zogg, Meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Des Moines expects the snow to impact the region between 4:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. He expects total snowfall amounts to range from 4-5 inches with lesser amounts to the south and more to the northeast.
Zogg says depending on how the roads are treated that amount of ice could cause hazardous travel conditions. In addition to that, the icing could cause issues with power lines and trees.
Southwest Iowa is under a Winter Weather Advisory from 6:00 a.m. on Friday to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. A Winter Storm Warning goes into effect for northern, Central and eastern Iowa including the counties as far south as Crawford and Carroll counties from 9:00 a.m. on Friday to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
