(Red Oak) Two people from Nebraska are in custody in connection with passing counterfeit money at a Red Oak convenience store.
Red Oak Police Chief Justin Rhamy says officers were dispatched to the Cubby’s Convenience Store on the north side of Red Oak at around 3:45 a.m. Wednesday morning. The Store Clerk told authorities two individuals passed phony $20.00 bills and left the premises. The employee obtained the accurate vehicle description and license plate and passed the information on to the investigating officers.
While on Patrol, Police located the car and the two suspects standing outside the vehicle in the 300 blocks of East Prospect Street. Authorities discovered the car was stolen out of Council Bluffs on January 13. Upon further investigation; it was discovered the two individuals were in possession of additional counterfeit currency, as well as Methamphetamine, Marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.
The two suspects identified as 37-year old Sondra Mae Cobb and 19-year old Dyllan Cole Cattano are currently being held in the Montgomery County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
Cattano faces charges of 2nd Theft, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance Methamphetamine, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Cobb is charged with Forgery, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Red Oak Police Department with the investigation and eventual arrest.
