(Des Moines) A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for Adair, Madison, Adams, Union, and Taylor counties until 6:00 a.m. Saturday. A Winter Storm Warning for Montgomery, Fremont, and Page counties is in effect until Midnight.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Pottawattamie and Mills counties until 12:00 a.m. and Cass, Guthrie, Carroll, Audubon, and Greene counties until 6:00 a.m.
The National Weather Service says A large low pressure system will affect Iowa to end the week spreading two episodes of wintry precipitation across the state. The first push will bring snow and blowing snow through central sections with freezing rain and a wintry mix south this afternoon, both lasting into at least the evening hours. The second push Saturday will mainly be snow and blowing snow, ending from west to east during the evening hours. Moderate to heavy snow storm total accumulations are expected over the southeast two- thirds of Iowa by the time the storm ends Saturday evening.
