(Cresco) The Cass County Fair, held in Atlantic, has been awarded the 2019 ‘Blue Ribbon Fair’ Award by the Board of Directors of the Association of Iowa Fairs.
The award was presented to the Fair’s Board of Directors at the Association’s 2019 Conference and Annual Meeting, which was held December 13-15 at the Airport Holiday Inn in Des Moines. The Cass County Fair was chosen to receive the award from all the Fairs in the Association’s South West District.
Thomas Barnes, Executive Director of the Association, said one member Fair in each of the Association’s six fair districts in Iowa is presented this award each year. The Fair that receives this award must have shown progress in providing service to the youth programs in their community, plus show distinguished service to the community in both the Fair and interim events.
Cass County President Curtis Bierbaum said, “We are very excited to have received the 2019 Blue Ribbon Fair Award. The Fair board and I are proud of our County Fair and all the things it has to offer. Cass County being one of the few all-free fairs in Iowa is something to be proud of. We could not have the successful fair that we do without the superintendents, volunteers, parents, Extension staff, FFA Advisors and county support.
The Cass County Fair dates are set for July 22-28, 2020, in Atlantic.
