(Crescent) A Nebraska woman died from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle accident in Pottawattamie County.
The Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were dispatched to the accident north of Crescent on Old Lincoln Highway near Missouri Avenue at approximately 6:08 p.m. Friday. Preliminary investigation indicated that 21-year-old Carter Calvert, of Omaha, Nebraska, was southbound on Old Lincoln Highway in a 2012 Toyota Camry. 56-year-old Catherine Vasquez, of Omaha, Nebraska, was northbound on Old Lincoln Highway. The two vehicles collided head-on.
Mrs. Vasquez was transported to the University of Nebraska Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. Mr. Calvert was transported to the University of Nebraska Medical Center with serious injuries.
Preliminary investigation indicates that speed and alcohol may have been a factor. The accident remains under investigation.
