(Atlantic) Atlantic Mayor Dave Jones addressed the recent vandalism to some of the City Park restroom facilities during Wednesday’s City Council meeting.
Mayor Jones asked citizens to keep their eyes open for unusual activity around the restroom areas. Jones says security is beefing up.
Atlantic Park and Rec. Director Bryant Rasmussen told the Park Board on Monday night, the vandalism has been a huge issue over the past week. The first incident occurred on the weekend of August 7-9 at the bathrooms in Sunnyside Park. Vandals destroyed the waterless bathroom at the Schildberg Recreation Area, and the vandals struck again this past weekend.
In other activity; Atlantic City Administrator John Lund talked about a couple of agenda items for future meetings. Lund says the community development committee wants the City to donate lots to anyone wanting to build a house in Atlantic. Lund wants to formalize that proposal and get it on a future City Council agenda for a vote.
Additionally, Lund says it appears the City is eligible for C.A.R.E.S. Act money which is a federal program providing payments to State, Local, and Tribal governments navigating the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak.
