(Des Moines) Scattered thunderstorms are expected later today and into tonight over the southern two-thirds of Iowa.
Andrew Ansorge meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Des Moines forecasts strong to perhaps severe thunderstorms for southwest Iowa mid to late afternoon and early this evening. Ansorge says the storms could produce strong wind gusts, hail, and locally heavy rains, mainly in the northern portion of the state.
The storms will move out tonight. Cooler temperatures are forecast for Sunday, with a gradual warm-up into next week with highs reaching the low 80’s on Wednesday and Thursday.
