(Sioux City) Two-time defending NAIA football champion Morningside has added another area recruit. Michael Shiffer, of AHSTW, will join the Mustangs this fall.
Morningside football matched what AHSTW’s Michael Shiffer was looking for in a college program. “I feel like with Morningside I felt like I was in a home almost. I had a couple people up there I know. They were all telling me the place was really nice and I did a visit with the coaching staff. They just made me feel right at home.”
Shiffer led AHSTW’s defense last year with 66 tackles. He’ll look to be a versatile piece for the Mustang defense. “They want me to play a little bit of outside linebacker, but I wouldn’t be surprised if I get moved around to a couple of positions because I’m a little undersized.”
Coaches and parents helped Shiffer arrive at his college decision. “Coach Harris and Coach Hansen helped me out a lot in trying to find a place. I talked with my parents about what’s going to be best for me and where I’m going to be comfortable getting my education.”
Iowa Western, Simpson, and Iowa Central were a few of the other schools he considered.
