(Oakland) Jadyn Achenbach has announced her intent to join the Iowa Central volleyball program.
The Riverside senior admits she’s had her mind made up for a while, but just recently decided to make it official. “A few months ago the head coach e-mailed me and set up a visit. I went there and got to practice with some of the girls. I really liked the campus. I waited a few weeks to make my final decision, but I think I knew ever since my visit that I was going to go there for sure.”
Initially Achenbach wasn’t 100% sure if she’d continue her career, but decided to give it a go at the junior college level. “I had about 20 coaches reach out to me and I didn’t answer any of them, because for a while I didn’t want to play anywhere but the more I thought about I just didn’t think I could give up volleyball just yet.”
She says playing club volleyball helped her regain her enthusiasm in the sport. She’ll join a quality team with the Tritons. “I know they have a really good program. Last year they went 33-6 and almost qualified for nationals. They did super good last year.”
Achenbach was a 2nd team all-conference selection as a senior. She posted 237 kills, 170 digs, and served 44 aces for a Riverside team that made the regional finals.
