(Audubon) After a couple of years away from wrestling, Audubon alum Dustin Andreasen is ready to return to the mat. The former Wheeler has signed with Graceland College.
Andreasen spent the last couple of years at DMACC and was looking for a four year school to transfer to when this opportunity presented itself. “In December some friends of ours reached out to us and asked if I’d be interested in checking out their program. I thought about it and finally took a visit in February. I really like their program and what they had to offer academically and athletically.”
Andreasen admits watching his brother’s high school matches fueled his desire to compete once again. “I tried to watch as much high school wrestling as I could and it kind of gets in your head and makes you want to get back into it.”
A recent article on thepindoctors.com illustrated Andreasen’s AAU success and referred to him as one of the best high school wrestlers to never make a state tournament. An illness his junior year and an injury his senior year played a big factor into his frustration in high school. It’s kept him hungry and he outlines the following goals. “Hopefully sometime in the next year I’ll be looking to get some varsity action. From what I’ve seen they like to spread it around for who gets to wrestle so I’m sure I’ll get some mat time and we’ll see where it takes me. Hopefully I can get some podiums at some different tournaments.”
Andreasen will enter as a sophomore in eligibility, giving him three seasons to compete for the Yellowjackets. He wrestled at 182 in high school, but has put on about 20 pounds since then.
