(Sioux City) Nodaway Valley graduate Jackson Lamb is an NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball All-American. The senior at Briar Cliff was named to the 2nd Team on Thursday.
It’s the 2nd All-American honor for Lamb in his career. He earned a spot on the honorable mention list as a junior. “It means a lot. Growing up I never once thought I would be an All-American. To do it twice and be honorable mention my junior year and 2nd Team my senior year, it’s what you dream for growing up as a kid and it came true for me.”
Among the most memorable parts of the season for Lamb were beating #1 Morningside, #17 Mount Marty, and 10th rated Dakota Wesleyan in a three game stretch. In the Mount Marty win he set a career high with 54 points. He also broke the program’s all-time three-pointers made record. He’s spent countless hours over the year improving his shooting ability. It’s something he started to take very seriously ever since a visit with Nodaway Valley coach Darrell Burmeister during his 8th grade year. “I averaged about 200 makes every time I shot on the gun. In High School that’s what Coach Burmeister preached was that players make plays.”
Lamb twice was on teams that went to the Elite Eight in the NAIA D-II Tournament, but one of his proudest achievements came through his work in the classroom. The Biology major holds a 3.87 GPA and was named a 1st Team Academic All-American.
Lamb ranked fifth in NAIA Division II this season with a scoring average of 23.8 points per game. He also led the Chargers in rebounds, steals, and blocks. The full interview with him is available below:
