(Fort Dodge) The Iowa wrestling program has landed one of the most coveted high school wrestlers in the state.
Fort Dodge junior Drake Ayala will join the Hawkeyes as part of their 2021 recruiting class. Ayala went 45-0 on his way to a Class 3A state championship this season. At the state tourney he posted a first round technical fall followed by three straight first period pins to win the 120 pound weight class. His sophomore season included a perfect 41-0 record and 113 pound title. He was a state runner up as a freshman at 106 with a record of 41-2.
Intermat ranks Ayala #2 in the nation at 120 pounds.
